That drive sparked an internal desire to work hard at a young age, ultimately leading her to where she is today — an owner of a thriving company, Primex Mortgages Dominion Lending Centres, which she opened in 2010.
— Trish PigottGrowing up in a very poor household and watching my mom work three jobs to make ends meet taught me to work hard at a very young age. I knew that working for myself and being responsible for my own future motivated me to get to where I am today.
After graduating from high school, Pigott spent the next 13 years climbing the ranks at Home Depot Canada, where she became the Regional Installation Manager prior to branching out on her own.
“During my years at Home Depot, the company put me through several management training programs,” says Pigott. “It was a colleague of mine who suggested I might want to consider a career as an independent mortgage broker.”
Intrigued and thrilled with the prospect of being her own boss, in 2004 Pigott earned her mortgage license at the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business.
Moving up in the industry.
Since 2010, Pigott has enjoyed a rewarding career, recognized multiple times as one of the industry's top performers, including landing in the top two percent of all brokers across Canada. She was also nominated for CMP's Mortgage Broker of the Year Award.
“My mother and my husband of 32 years have always been my biggest cheerleaders,” says Pigott.
Born and raised in the Lower Mainland, Pigott is dedicated to doing everything she can to simplify the mortgage process for her clients, while saving them money. Over the years, Pigott has earned a stellar reputation as one whose clients’ best interests come first. She works closely with all her business and lender partners to ensure each client is completely satisfied with their mortgage experience.
Giving back to the community.
Having a husband who was a firefighter for more than three decades fuelled Pigott’s desire to support causes that benefit first responders. “My husband recently retired after 28 years as a firefighter and my dad was also a firefighter, so volunteering and financially supporting all first responders was essential to me.”
Pigott does this in numerous ways: whether it’s providing donations for their breakfast program and the Burn Fund, or supporting the Port Coquitlam Movember drive for men’s health, Pigott is there in whatever capacity they need.
“For six years, we have delivered fresh fruit in schools that offer breakfast programs, in addition to supporting all things youth related, from sports to financial education,” says Pigott.
She is also working on setting up a financial literacy program in local high schools in Pitt Meadows, where she, her husband and 16-year-old daughter call home.
In her down time, this busy broker loves hanging out with her family and their fur babies – cats, dogs and horses. “My favourite thing is to be my daughter’s biggest cheerleader in the equestrian world,” adds Pigott.
