“The demands of the discipline of civil engineering and the skill sets required, such as math, made transitioning into brokering quite easy,” says Farjoo, who comes from a long line of civil engineers in both Iran and Canada. “All my family, including my father and siblings, are engineers. When I moved to BC in 2013 from Iran, I started my career in a different field of engineering.”
What started out as frustration with a mortgage broker morphed into a curiosity about the industry.
“In 2019, I met with a mortgage broker to purchase my first home, and he just wasn’t as helpful and knowledgeable as I would have liked,” explains Farjoo. “A family friend, also a broker, guided me through the various mortgage options. Then, COVID hit and my work as an engineer slowed down.”
While still working as an engineer, Farjoo decided to volunteer part time as a bookkeeper in a brokerage firm. Farjoo found his calling, and in 2021 went on to get his mortgage broker’s licence. What initially captivated him about becoming a mortgage broker was the opportunity to directly impact people's lives in a positive way.
“There is nothing more gratifying than helping individuals and families reach their dream of home ownership,” he says.

Farjoo’s former career has brought a lot to the table, including the ability to quickly get up to speed with complex tasks and problems, like when a client’s renewal has been declined by his mortgage lender.
“I once had a client whose lender rejected their application last minute due to issues with their previous mortgage work,” explains Farjoo. “I swiftly helped them transition to a new lender within 24 hours, obtain approval, complete their purchase, and avoid incurring penalties towards the seller.”
Along with his team of mortgage specialists, Farjoo focuses on communities across the Lower Mainland.

“I love the different neighbourhoods in Vancouver. You have a melting pot of different cultures that make each neighbourhood vibrant and exciting,” says Farjoo.

In his spare time, Farjoo and his fiancee enjoy travel, walks along the seawall by Stanley Park with their dog, biking or a good workout at the gym.
The importance of giving back also plays a pivotal role in Farjoo’s life. “I sponsor charitable events in my community, such as the DeebaEvents (which supports children in Iran and other countries), and when I am asked to volunteer, I’m happy to get involved.”
As for his adopted country, Farjoo says: “There are so many opportunities in Canada and you can achieve anything if you work hard.”
