“After I graduated from high school, I attended Niagara College Canada to study family law,” says Marcotte. “Throughout high school and college, I was still working at the bank part time. I remember a high school counselor telling me that accounting would be a really great fit for me because I was good at it and good with people.”
Marcotte had one of those Aha! moments when she realized financing was like a second language to her, which convinced her to pivot away from law.

The move into mortgages.
Marcotte has now been a trusted mortgage expert with Dominion Lending Centres for more than two decades.
“I teach my clients the principles and strategies that I have personally used to become a proud homeowner,” says Marcotte. “Being in the residential mortgage world, I come with a wealth of knowledge when it comes to purchases, refinances and renewals. I basically see myself as their ally and advisor from beginning to end.”
Marcotte truly knew she was on the right track when she was able to secure a better mortgage solution for a client who worked for a bank.
Marcotte recalls a prospective client who came to her with difficult circumstances. A family member had passed away and they were struggling to make the mortgage payments. In the end, they had to sell the family home. The client wanted to purchase a more affordable home, but had been declined by traditional lenders.
“I was able to get them into a home with a subprime mortgage, and through coaching and advice, two years later I got them a mortgage with an A lender,” says Marcotte. “I was able to help them rebuild their credit during those two years by putting together a fiscally sound plan.”
Out of office.
Marcotte is equally committed to charities, especially when they pertain to issues about women, children and animal welfare. “I volunteer with community events and donate to causes that are important to me,” she says.
In her off time, Marcotte is an avid sports enthusiast and warm weather world traveler. If she isn’t in the CrossFit gym, you can find her hiking or skiing on the local mountains.
“I also bike, walk and spend time with family and friends,” says Marcotte. “I enjoy cooking and entertaining and, when time permits, traveling where there is sunshine and beaches. I love to scuba dive.”
