The value of Vancouver’s residential building permits in March was nearly double that of the same month last year, according to Statistics Canada data released May 7.
Residential permits in the city totalled $667 million in March, up 95 per cent compared with March 2014, and a rise of nearly 36 per cent compared with the previous month.
Victoria’s residential building permits were also up year over year, rising in value by 60.6 per cent compared with March 2014. Kelowna residential permits were up a much more modest 5.5 per cent and Abbotsford-Mission saw a decline, down 44.3 per cent compared with March 2014.
Across Canada, the value of residential construction permits rose 20.6 per cent year over year and 8.1 per cent month over month to $4.48 billion in March.
