We recently enlisted the services of the Derek Thistle team. Given the geopolitical threats both nationally and internationally there was some skepticism with buyers looking to lock in on my product type. I received reviews/ feedback that my house and property showed 10/10, however there were some concerns with the backdrop for some. Given the above, Derek brought expertise utilizing paid google ads and other mechanisms to reach the widest audience. For 4K photos, video, drone footage and 3D mapping and measuring Kirk knocked it out of the park. Derek’s powerhouse Britt was there every step of the way both pre listing, listed and post sold. Post listing we were treated extremely well. After a couple months of using a different realtor, who refused to listen to my needs and made me repeat myself multiple times, a colleague mentioned Derek. The colleague suggested that, knowing the ins-and-outs of our general line of work, Derek would understand my needs and take care of me. At first, I was extremely skeptical. After all, realtors are just salesmen, right?! They're just in it for the money, yeah?! WRONG! Not Derek. He brings the whole package home. He's friendly, approachable, charismatic, and is not afraid to fight FOR you, not with you. His expertise in Calgary and the areas surrounding Calgary was clearly evident, and he was never afraid to meet an hour away (or more) from the city at the drop of a hat. He would answer my texts and emails at all hours of the day and night, knowing that I worked shiftwork and that my free time was extremely valuable. Every step of the process was clearly articulated by Derek, even going so far as to say "I think we need to walk away from this one" at one point, and providing multiple reasons for the suggestion (please people, don't chain smoke inside your house, it WILL reek, stain, and turn alot of people away). Derek took the time to understand my unique needs. If I mentioned that I needed a quiet area due to long hours and night shifts, he would send me cul-de-sacs and quiet areas. When I mentioned I was a dog lover, he would add in that I needed a fenced yard with some space to roam. Being a pet owner himself, he completely understood the unspeakable bond between the dog and the person, and that a home must accommodate both in order to be successful. It may not sound like a deal breaker to some, but believe me when I say that pet owners are the only people who understand other pet owners and their needs. Once I found a place that I could picture myself and my fur baby in for years to come, Derek was like a bloodhound. Or maybe a shark? Would that combination be a blark? Anyways, he was sniffing out the best deal and pointing me towards the best direction (sorry Derek, a lot of my analogies are animal-based. As well as my terrible puns, which you were such a good sport about)! Derek also provided care and support even after the offer was made and accepted, ensuring crucial inspection points were addressed. He also made me feel more like a friend than a client, and I don't think he knows just how much that is appreciated in this world. From initial offer, through conditions and inspections and cleaning and...literally everything else, Derek was right beside me, offering a helping hand and moral support. When I stressed about the little details, he was there offering a motivating text or video. We actually had alot of fun during the house hunting, as displayed in some of his social media posts. The professionalism and reliability of Derek and his associate Britt were amazing. Timely, proficient, and warm. All factors that are crucial during the home buying process, ensuring a smooth transaction and complete confidence and trust. To Derek and Britt: I commend your expert guidance, expertise and personal touch. When I needed problem-solving skills, you were there fighting on my behalf to get the essential systems maintenanced prior to move in. Derek is one of a kind. Full of energy and information. He went above and beyond to get our house sold (even whilst out of the country) and helped us immensely with the buying of our new forever home. He responds quickly and efficiently any time of day/evening. He has a great team of admin and lawyers (no searching).
