We had been searching for a mobile home on Vancouver Island for a while. We ran into the problem of "the hot market " . We saw many places that we liked and bidded on a couple. We had our hearts broken many times! The biggest concern was living in Surrey and having to travel to the island to see properties. Sometimes a property was listed and sold within one to two days. We were getting to the point of giving up on looking for our forever retirement home. I received an email on a Friday with a home listing in Qualicum Bay. We looked at the listing and thought, this is the one! It was in the area that we wanted to live in and ticked off all of the boxes. We called Melanie and she got right back to us. We asked a bunch of questions and she got all of the answers and followed up with us within a couple of hours. We knew that we couldn't travel that weekend. After much deliberation, we decided that we would put an offer in on the house sight unseen. Melanie insisted that she couldn't in all consciousness sell a home to someone without someone seeing it first. Melanie went to the home, did a walk through on FaceTime with us. This was Sunday night. She had learned by that time that bids were being accepted Monday morning by 11am. Melanie spent the rest of her evening writing up the offer, sending to us for signatures and changing any required documents. Melanie had a late night and was up the next morning to finish it off and send it in to the other agent. Unfortunately, the owners accepted another bid. We were heartbroken, but knew that we had a great real-estate agent who had our interest at heart. We gave Melanie our bucket list and left it there. On the Tuesday morning, Melanie called first this to say the accepted bidders revoked their offer and wanted to know if we wanted to go ahead. We of course accepted. We only had two conditions on the sale, an inspection and a viewing by us by the Friday that week. Melanie worked to arrange a wonderful inspection. They met us at the home on the Thursday evening, went through the inspection report and viewed the home and then returned back to the mainland that evening. We had forgotten to give Melanie the bank draft in the rush. She drove down from Qualicum to Nanaimo to pick up the cheque. She worked to get the conditions. We were dizzy, we had found and purchased a home within one week, from a distance. Melanie was always on top of everything and had excellent communication and follow-up skills, she truly has her clients best interests in the forefront. She acted professionally and her timing was remarkable. Melanie continued on to monitor the sale and smooth transition of the home. She accepted the keys for us, did a walk through to ensure everything was as it was supposed to be. She is going to hold the keys for us until we can get there to receive them. I have bought and sold homes several times in my life and I can honestly say that this was one of the best experiences I have had. I highly recommend Melanie to be your real-estate agent on Vancouver Island. I know that if we sell, or move again, we will certainly be using Melanie for the transactions. Now to start the search for someone for our other homes sale, a few years away, but treasures like Melanie are hard to find.

I don’t usually write reviews, but Melanie was so outstanding as a realtor, I was inspired to write this one. I have sold and bought homes several times. Melanie provided the most positive experience I have ever had! I was moving to Parksville from Victoria, and so communication was key to finding the perfect place. Melanie was outstanding in keeping me informed about movement in the market and had the patience of a saint as I took 2 trips up, but did not see THE place I wanted. When it finally came up, she was so helpful during the ‘bidding war’ and I succeeded in getting the perfect place for me! Melanie is up to date with technology and documents were sent promptly and signed off through DocuSign. This was fabulous for getting things done without fax machines or travel.
