Buying property is one of them. Add the challenge of navigating the process from another country, and some might call us crazy for trying. Honestly, we sometimes thought so too. That was, until we met Jessica Klikach. I found Jessica through an extensive online search. We reviewed many agents and companies, but her bio stood out- not just for her professional experience, but also for her personal story. We weren’t just looking for someone to close a deal; we were searching for someone passionate and genuinely invested. From our first Zoom meeting- an ocean apart-we knew Jessica was the one to help turn our dream into reality. For context: I’m a Canadian living in the U.S. with my American husband. I had dreamed for decades of moving back home, but life had other plans. Finally, it felt like the right time to seriously consider the next chapter. We set our sights on the Shuswap, where I’d spent childhood summers at my grandparents’ cabin. We pictured a place where, one day, our own grandchildren might do the same. The obstacles began stacking up: 1. We live in Hawaii. 2. My husband had never been to that part of Canada. 3. The political climate in the U.S. was unstable. Even as a lawful resident, I didn’t feel confident I could safely leave and re-enter the country. We faced cross-border legal and financial hurdles and doubted whether the dream was possible. But Jessica never wavered. She answered every question, gave thoughtful input, and visited properties on our behalf- even when it meant muddy hikes or tight turnarounds. After months of browsing listings she consistently curated, we found The One. Now came the hard part: I couldn’t risk traveling to Canada. My husband would have to go alone- to a place he’d never seen. Jessica went above and beyond to make the trip worthwhile. She organized multiple property visits, walked him through every site, and made sure we had full context and confidence. At one property, she even donned rain boots and hiked a long, muddy road to make sure no detail was missed. Though we own our current home, we’d never purchased land- especially not from abroad. Jessica was ready with answers, referrals, and reassurance. She connected us with a fantastic groundwork company and a legal team that helped us navigate the closing process with ease. Of course, not everything went smoothly. There were delays, doubts, and emotional ups and downs. But throughout it all, Jessica was our anchor. Her calm presence, clarity, and dedication made every step manageable. Now, the land is ours. There’s a long road ahead to turn it into our dream home—but we know we can count on Jessica for guidance, support, and most importantly, friendship.
