We recently purchased a home in Victoria with the help of Brock and his partner Owen, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. We recently worked with Brock on our first home purchase in Victoria. Being new to Victoria, the idea of buying a house was a bit daunting. We did not know much about any neighbourhoods or where we would want to live. Brock was a great sounding board. He really listened to what we said we would be looking for in a home and neighbourhood and gave us a lot of ideas to think about. He spent an entire day driving us all over just so we could get a feel of the areas to see if any stood out. He was patient, kind and we had some good laughs along the way. We first met Brock when he sold our dream home to someone else… In his defence, he did warn us that there was already an accepted offer on it but we still really wanted to see it so he obliged so that heartbreak is on us haha What really impressed us about him was his demeanour— there was no arrogance or condescension. We had been to open houses on our own before and right away felt like we were on a car sale lot… not a great vibe. But we told Brock we were first time home buyers and he took the time to answer all our questions and didn’t make us feel stupid for any of them. He even answered questions we didn’t even know we had and had a folder designed to walk you through all the steps you can expect in the home buying journey. He didn’t pressure us at all and just let us know that we could reach out if we thought of anything else. He told us he remembered his first home buying experience and wanted to make sure everyone else had better than he did and you could tell he really meant it. He did quite a bit of aesthetic work on the place while it was vacant. Even though this exceeded anything we expected, and he was so cheerful about it. Brock was extremely helpful on the purchase of our first house… we didn’t know much about the process of buying a house and he made all the process smoother. While looking for and selling a home a realtor friend suggested Owen and Brock of Compass Realty would do a good job. They came to our house and impressed us on our first meeting as they explained how they worked and their fundamental principles of honesty, open communication and attention to our privacy: they subsequently demonstrated all those qualities. The second visit after we engaged them they came to the house looked over the house ,explained the steps they would take and went away to gather data to enable us to make a price point decision . They presented information that enabled us to come to that decision. Since it was close to the Holidays they advised us to wait until the New Year to go to market but began to show us properties both in Victoria but also in mid Island after ascertaining what it seemed we wanted and also I'm sure to gauge our reactions in order to better help us. We felt completely supported by both of them throughout the process and completely enjoyed their company. In the New Year they engaged a colleague to stage the house a process which involved for us a lot of useful heartbreak as we began our own process of downsizing and giving up objects with ultimate objective of making the house a perfect palette for buyers to paint their own picture. Jamie the person who did the staging was very helpful and the result was perfect. Then the pictures , the drone shots of the house and the area and the production of the website and media all very competently rendered. We went away for the neighbourhood open house and the 2 subsequent public open houses to find a day later two offers over the asking price ,one of which we subsequently accepted. I had no idea of the tremendous amount of work the team had to put in nor how they managed so well to deal with our foibles and own disagreements and support us so brilliantly through this. This is for the seller always a difficult process and yet they made it smooth and almost easy with a stunning result. Needless to say we have done this before but without the expertise , thought and camaraderie that went with this sale

Brock and Owen recently helped us sell our home in Sooke and made the process very smooth, while keeping us up to date with any changes, and answering all of our (Many) questions. The property had tenants which made their job more difficult but they communicated with them effectively and took their schedules into consideration while scheduling viewings, and discussing with the buyers realtors regarding Leases in place, etc. We had a great experience and plan to use Compass Realty Group again in the future.

After being in our home for over 31 years, we had many questions about the process of selling a house in these uncertain economic times. We rolled up our sleeves, mapped out a tight but workable schedule and created a plan to hit the market running. They had their staging consultant visit the house to explain how she thought it needed to be presented, the house was photographed, a video created with drone footage and music, and a Matterport 360 self-guided tour generated. The result was a stunning, professional looking and informative website containing a narrative that highlighted all the house features. The last piece to complete was the asking price, which they held off on due to the quickly changing pricing in the marketplace. In the end we went with what we felt was a realistic price. The listing went live on Friday, the open house was on Saturday and the next day we had an offer, which we ultimately closed on without any adjustment to the selling price. Everything went according to the plan Owen & Brock had initially laid out with no surprises. They were always available to answer questions and were a valuable resource for legal representation, moving / storage and even had contacts for junk removal. What started as a casual chat on the roadside turned into friendship that we continue to value. All-in-all, selling our family home was a great experience for us. We would use Compass Realty Group again without hesitation and would recommend their services to anyone wanting to sell their house by results oriented professionals who enjoy what they do and who are a pleasure to work with.
