Sent her a text to indicate that we wanted to view a house she was representing. She answered promptly and asked if we were represented and we indicated that we didn't decide yet to use our old real estate agent or the listing agent. We made an appointment to view the house a couple days later. But the night before the viewing, she texted me and asked us to sign a document before viewing the house. The document explained the differences between who was representing whom. I had previously viewed 3 houses in the same area with the listing agents (the same week), they were courteous and showed us the house without issues, therefore, I was very leery of having to sign a document to view a house. She presented us with something we were not familiar with. She is very inconsistent with her peers who do not present any documents for viewing a house.. You don't sign any papers to attend an open house, why would you need to sign papers to view a house. I explained my concerns to her and she wished me good luck on my search. This was the strangest real estate agent I've ever encountered and I've purchased 8 houses before and viewed plenty of houses. I don't think she understands real estate at all or maybe she thinks that everyone needs to sign a document before looking at a house. That document would be useful to the buyer or seller when you are about to enter into some negotiations or purchase agreement, but to have it signed before viewing.....good luck with that. The reason she gave me was it was for "safety"? In reading the document, the only safety this would provide would be to make sure the buyer didn't get scammed by the agent. It's for the buyers safety during negotiations. I'd be very concerned if she were my listing agent. End result, we decided not to look at the house. Purchasing a house is a very big deal and the last thing we need is to have an anomaly pop up.
