Karen Carter knows what it’s like to move. She moved multiple times as a child, from St. John’s, Newfoundland to a rental in Toronto, then a house in Toronto, and finally to Vancouver at age 19. So, whether it’s their first time buying or third upsizing, with 19 years of experience, Karen understands the unique anxieties and emotions Homeseekers face. “That emotional connection I have to moving and the stress around it is why I try to make it as easy as possible,” she says.

Helping Homeseekers through journeys also means Karen gets an inside peek into their lives, and she cherishes those stories. “I get to find out so much about people’s histories and lives and what’s important to them. I’m their biggest cheerleader,” she says.

Once, after helping a mother and daughter sell their home, she sent them each a professional photo book of the property. Her clients spoke on the phone with her and talked about every photo, reminiscing about growing up and living in the home. It was “giving them a chance to say goodbye to that house,” Karen says.

This personalized approach means Karen takes the time to truly understand what her clients want and make choices that will get them there. She uses her empathy and deep knowledge of Vancouver’s real estate market and trends to guide clients toward the best possible options. As Karen explains, “[The way] I approach real estate, it's not the sales, it's not about doing a deal. It's about finding the right fit for the clients.”
