The southern part of the area adjacent to Fraser Street, from 41st Avenue to 50th Avenue, is a popular neighbourhood for newcomers to Vancouver, particularly those of South Asian decent. It is also one of Vancouver's oldest commercial areas, mainly due to its early German and Polish settlers, and a historic streetcar route over Fraser Street Bridge to Richmond. The northeast corner of Fraser is known as Little Saigon because of the estimated 250 Vietnamese businesses along Kingsway.
With a high proportion of Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese and Filipino residents making up Fraser's population, the neighbourhood has become a destination for specialty ethnic foods, textiles and services. There are also a number of car dealers, big-box supermarkets and general supply stores in the area.
Residential real estate in Fraser consists mainly of low-rise buildings from the 1940s to 1960s, as well as a mix of semi-detached townhomes and duplexes. Prices for homes in South Hill-Fraser range from $340,000 for an apartment to $679,500 for a single-family house.

Fraser Street food spans the globe. A dinner favourite among Vancouverites is Ho Yuen Kee Restaurant -- its Dungeness crab, steamed whole fish and Peking duck in two courses are simply divine. Hai Phong gets high marks for its Vietnamese cuisine (although it's impossible to get bad pho in this neighbourhood). Les Faux Bourgeois is a tiny French bistro that people willingly line up for.

South Hill-Fraser provides plenty of opportunities for sports and recreation, including Memorial South Park(ball hockey, cricket pitches, lacrosse field, running track, wading pool and picnic sites) and Sunset Community Centre(fitness centre and ice rink).
Fraser Transportation
The South Hill-Fraser neighbourhood is served by TransLink's #8 Fraser Street bus, which runs from S.E. Marine Drive to Downtown Vancouver. The area is also car-friendly, providing convenient access to the City of Richmond and Highway 99 via the Knight Street Bridge.
