The popular tour of Vancouver's historical homes returns for its 15th run this June
Celebrating its 15th year in the city, the ever-popular Vancouver Heritage House Tour returns to town on Sunday June 4th from 10 am to 5 pm. The self-guided tour explores nine different historic Vancouver homes, each with their own unique backstory and quirky charm. From quaint working family homes to large, luxurious estates, the one-day Heritage House tour gives participants a unique look into Vancouver's roots and architectural history.
The city's sustainability efforts are also highlighted on the tour. One home in particular has been renovated and restored with a recycled rubber roof, high efficiency energy systems and a beehive in an effort to maintain the local bee population. The Vancouver Heritage Foundation is offering partipicants an opportunity to sit in on a lecture with Conservation Architect Mark Thompson Brandt, who will discuss the "greening" of Vancouver's heritage buildings and the role they play in sustainable cities.
