Trystan King
Market expert
Trystan King has lived in and around the Tri-Cities his entire life, which gives him unique insight into its neighbourhoods, people and amenities. But he didn’t start helping Homeseekers buy and sell right away. In fact, he competed in bodybuilding before becoming an agent, which gave him the sense of discipline and commitment he’s brought to each client for the past six years.
Prior to real estate, he worked as a server and bartender, setting him up with the attentive customer service skills he still uses today. Still, real estate was part of his family growing up, with his father dabbling in investment properties, giving him some inside peeks into the process early on.
Whether it’s curating tailored listings that suit their needs or providing in-depth stats on the areas they’re interested in, he makes sure to provide personalized experiences for his clients.

It’s more than just numbers and properties for Trystan. “Getting to meet a buyer or seller, learning about what’s important to them, [understanding] their deep underlying motivations and coming up with a strategy and a game plan to help them – I always find that fulfilling,” he says.
For example, that deep level of understanding paid off when a frustrated couple with four children came to him. They’d been looking for a home for around eight months without success. Feeling passed over, ignored and misunderstood by other agents, Trystan was able to find them the perfect place in just a few weeks by listening to their wants and needs and developing curated listings that matched.
When he’s not helping Homeseekers of all sorts, Trystan can be found walking his dog Jack while enjoying all the Tri-Cities has to offer. Working in real estate, he says he, “gets to help people, meet different people and then help them achieve their goals.”
Buying in the Tri-Cities.
Top three questions.
How would you describe Tri-Cities to a potential buyer?
I would say the Tri-Cities offer the perfect blend between “city” and “suburban” living. You have the option to visit the Burquitlam area, as an example, where you have density, a number of amenities, shopping, restaurants, but then also have beautiful parks, greenery, and are a short distance to the ocean and mountains in Port Moody. You feel a great sense of community.
What would you say to someone who was looking at Port Moody specifically about considering Burquitlam or Coquitlam in the Tri-Cities as well?
The benefit to living in the Burquitlam area is that you’re more accessible to the highway, closer to Vancouver should you need to commute there. I find home seekers who are more drawn to Burquitlam are often young professionals who might have to commute Downtown Vancouver for their work. They get the best of both worlds as they’re a short distance to all of Port Moody’s popular amenities.
In reference to Central Coquitlam, you get the accessibility should you need it, as well as larger, flat lots. Depending on the area in Port Moody, [in comparison] you can find slightly more affordable options as well.
What is your overall impression or opinion of the market in Tri-Cities?
I find that the market has held relatively well over the past couple years despite the market cycle we have gone through. I believe this is due to location. During the pandemic boom, home buyers were willing to sacrifice location for a larger home. Now, it seems buyers are once again favouring location, which has benefited a market like the Tri-Cities.
