Driven by a mix of professional ambition and personal connection, she moved to the city in 2023 to be with her now-husband.
Outside of the office, Christy is a vibrant individual who embraces the "work hard, play hard" mentality of the West. She is someone who finds joy in the details, like the perfect London Fog, a gorgeous sunset on an outdoor patio or a quiet night at home hosting friends for movies and games. These are Christy’s thoughts on settling into the "Stampede City," the skyrocketing housing market and the best-kept secrets of the local food scene.

Can you tell us a bit about who you are?
My name is Christy Seville. I am the Strategy and Content Lead with Paper Crane, a brand strategy agency in Calgary. I moved here to be with my now husband and we have two sweet angel kittens!
When did you move to Calgary?
I moved to Calgary in 2023.
Has it changed since you moved here? How so?
I haven't been here too long. But I've been happy to experience the type of culture here. Lots of love for outdoor sports and innovation.
What sort of home do you live in?
We own a detached house in Douglasdale.
What advice would you give to someone considering a move to Calgary?
Do it! There's so much to see and do around here and the people are friendly and kind.
What are the biggest housing challenges you see in Calgary?
The cost of housing has been skyrocketing since we've had a lot of folks moving here from Toronto and Vancouver.
What is your Favourite thing about Calgary?
The Bow River is so much fun in the summer. I love paddleboarding down the river with my husband and friends.
In your opinion, what are the best-kept secrets of Calgary?
The food scene here is unreal. We get great restaurants and cafes. There is so much to try.
What are your favourite local traditions?
Stampede stresses me out, but I love the Skijoring festivals that happen around here. I also look forward to the YYC EXP Food & Drink Experience every year.
How are you involved in Calgary?
I support many local brands through my work. I enjoy playing squash and learning ballroom dance with Alberta Dancesport.
Where’s the best place in Calgary for a coffee? A nice dinner? A drink?
I don't drink coffee, but I frequent Sucre across the street from my work for a good London Fog.
My favourite restaurant is Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant. We got married there and we absolutely love the food. Such a treat.
Shelter is my fave cocktail bar. Such a unique and tailored experience.

What are some stereotypes people hold about Calgary? Do you think they’re true?
The Oilers vs. Flames debate is incredibly real. But I'm not a hockey fan, so I'm not drawn into this debate often.
What do you do for fun in Calgary?
I spend time with my husband and friends. We go paddleboarding and for walks in the summer, take dance classes, play squash and go for drinks and meals at new restaurants. We also host a lot of people at our house for games, movies, whatever!

Where do you work? How is the commute?
I work downtown. The commute isn't great, but the traffic honestly isn't bad.
