Spring and summer are wonderful months for farmers’ market adventures. Kelowna has some of the best Farmer's markets in Canada.

There’s something soul-stirring about a rustic farmer’s market that speaks to a lost part of us. The part that craves a connection to friendly local farmers and seasonal vegetables that still smell like the earth.

The Kelowna Farmer’s & Crafter’s Market is exactly this, and so much more.

Kelowna Farmers’ Market in the Summer

Spring and summer are wonderful months for farmers’ market adventures. The main Kelowna market is open every Saturday at its Springfield location in the Orchard Park Mall from May through October of every year.

Everything is locally grown and lovingly cultivated, which adds a certain flavour to market shopping while engendering a special community spirit. People greet one another by name, and the mood is decidedly down to earth and unifying in the glowing summer season.

Stock up on strawberries or the healthiest looking rainbow chard you’ll see anywhere. Get the fresh garlic and the mint that still has morning dew glistening on its leaves. King Edward and Maris Piper potatoes are a must - they are brilliant whether boiled or roasted, and your family may want to send you to market just for those!

Kelowna Farmer’s Market in the Winter

Seasonal produce between November and March inspires local foodies who create the most delectable homemade items.

Fortunately for locals and tourists, Kelowna’s farmer’s market operates throughout the year. The winter venue is in the Parkinson Recreation Centre, has plenty of on-site parking, and is open from 9 am - 1 pm.

There is, of course, the novel Downtown Kelowna Winter Street Market, which will reopen soon depending on pandemic restrictions. Held at the Kelowna Ice Rink next to the yacht club, this market has become increasingly popular for exceptional food, clothing, talented local artisans, and live music.

Money Matters at the Market

There must be adequate card facilities when visiting today’s market. Therefore, the organisers have ensured an on-site ATM if you need it. However, many vendors can accept debit and credit cards which makes life a little easier for everyone.

The vendors are dedicated to bringing you the best of Okanagan Valley all year round. Not only that, but the crafters also create delicate soaps, natural skin care products, bespoke jewellery, and striking leather goods. (And we haven’t even touched on the exquisite baked goods the locals put their Kelowna stamp on.)
