Six of the Best Family Playgrounds and Parks in Kelowna
Each family has its own priorities, but Kelowna supplies an endless variety of activities and adventures. There are perfect picnic spots, parks, and playgrounds - all you need for a day of delight to create precious memories.
Rotary Beach Park - on Lakeshore Road tells you that is a beach area within a short drive to any number of Kelowna cafes along the lakeside. It’s quaint and quieter than most beaches if that’s your thing. It is also grassed all the way to the sand making it perfect for a picnic blanket.
Ben Lee Park - on Houghton Road is many things - there is a skateboard park, basketball, trails and best of all, a really awesome water park for smaller kids. Plenty of amenities along Hwy 33 North make it an ideal spot for parties or large groups.
Mission Creek Regional Park - nice and central, and arguably the best playground in all of Kelowna’s best family parks. Local families love it, and that alone speaks volumes. The Orchard Park Mall is one minute’s drive away if your picnic runs dry or you forgot the diapers. The nearby trails are incredibly popular and serve as great training for your children’s teen and adult years in Kelowna’s abundant walking and hiking trails.
Quilchena Park, Kettle Valley - people drive out to Jasper Way, Kelowna for this tube slide adventure all kids dream of. Plenty of play structures for toddlers to bigger kids means there is something for everyone in a young family. Ample shade under the big trees makes sure no one gets too much sun.
Parkinson Recreation Park – offers plenty of activities for little kids including sandboxes, climbing structures, low swings, and picnic tables. A walk in the community gardens makes a break from all things artificial and encourages a love of our natural environment. It also helps to quieten the kiddies down after a day of excitement.
City Park Playground - in Abbott Street truly has it all - a splash pad, a fabulous beach, ideal spots for little ones, and skateboarding, soccer, tennis, and sand volleyball for older ones. It’s near enough to cafes and Kelowna’s best ice cream shops, although there are often food trucks parked nearby due to the popularity of this spot.
Family Parks in Kelowna Keep it Altogether
The modern version of an old axiom is that ‘families who play together, stay together.
The value of spending time in the great outdoors with parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins, and relatives builds strong bonds in today’s busy world. Families who do so often, start to share inside jokes, treasure exclusive experiences and come to love each other in ways city life precludes.
Building memories together with people who are likely to feature in much of our lives simply makes sense. When we all play together, we laugh, and we lighten up and in today’s stressful times we need to schedule a whole lot more of that to make our family life work. A great way to do just that is to regularly visit the best family parks in Kelowna where every picture is instantly Instagram-worthy.
