In a city packed with notoriously pricey homes and plenty of rich folk to live in them it is endlessly fascinating to discover which neighbourhoods boast the most expensive real estate and are home to the wealthiest people.
According to a Canadian Business list published July 23, it is Vancouver's Shaughnessy Heights the area west of Granville Street and east of Connaught Drive, from West 29th to West 39th Avenue that is BC's most expensive and Canada's third most expensive neighbourhood, with an average house price of $3.09 million.
Canadian Business said: "In the nosebleed-inducing world of Vancouver real estate, Shaughnessy Heights still manages to stand out."
The area was also ranked number four in Canada, and number one in BC, in the publication's list of Canada's wealthiest neighbourhoods, which ranked areas by household net worth. The average household in Shaughnessy Heights was cited as being worth $12 million.
Several other Vancouver and West Vancouver neighbourhoods also made the two lists.
