It's not quite as grand as the White House, but this lovely, eight-bedroom, 8,200-square-foot house is an appropriate new abode for the Obama family

We've all seen photos of the Obama family relaxing on a well-deserved vacation right now, but here's a peek inside the rented home that they have already moved into – and it’s a beauty.

This graceful, 8,200-square-foot, eight-bedroom, nine-and-a-half bathroom home is in the distinguished Kalorama neighbourhood of Washington DC, just a few minutes’ drive from their former home at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue (meaning no school disruption for the girls).

Kalorama is chock full of elegant old properties and is a favourite neighbourhood of former presidents: Woodrow Wilson, William Howard Taft, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Warren Harding, and Herbert Hoover all called the neighborhood home. Current neighbours will include Amazon founder Jeff Bezos as well as the daughter of Barack’s presidential successor – Ivanka Trump, who lives nearby with her husband Jared Kushner.

The photos in the gallery above are from when the property was listed by McFadden Group in 2014, so the interior finishings may be a little different today – but it’s an amazing insight into the former president’s new home.

Check out the images by scrolling through the gallery above – we think you’ll love it as much as we do!
