Check out this spectacular reimagining of an outdated West Side property by TQ Construction

These images showcase a truly spectacular renovation of a 4,000-square-foot West Side house by local contractor TQ Construction.

What originally began as a simple job, intended to add a splash of color and renewed shapes and finishes to a dated home, turned into the complete rebuild of one-and-a-half storeys of this historical home in Vancouver’s prestigious Shaughnessy neighbourhood.

Many features of the home’s heritage detailing were lost during a previous renovation. The restoration of original high-relief plaster details, high-relief crown mouldings and curved ceilings required patient attention to detail.

The kitchen previously had a small segregated mud-room that has been combined into the open concept culinary hub with an extension of the custom cabinetry that now serves the purpose of ‘drop-zone’ without having the entry closed off and impeding the space. Non-structural refinishing transformed main floor den into a dramatic masculine retreat.

A sophisticated master suite was created, including a walk-in closet and dressing room created using space claimed from adjacent office, with on-demand hot water for morning coffee/tea. The ensuite bathroom features a frameless glass shower and dual sink vanities; the freestanding soaker tub (relocated to exterior wall) is framed by a stone bench that extends through the shower. The remainder of the office was used to allow for a proper staircase to replace the folding ladder-style hatch access to an attic space, which was increased to create a tranquil meditation/music room with three new dormer windows.

The home has a sophisticated Manhattan inspired aesthetic that, although heritage in flavour, has used bold punches of colour and timeless classic furnishings to bring the home completely up to date.

In this case, pictures speak a thousand words, so check out this jaw-dropping renovation in the photo gallery above.
