“Everything is coming from books—I know exactly the books I am going to use. I don’t draw or paint; the vision and ideas are already written in my head. For me, the project is like a dissertation, I’m absolutely approaching it that way,” says Burgevin Blachman. “For the Oakridge project, I drew a lot of inspiration from the West Coast setting. My first encounter with Vancouver was looking out of the window at the sea, and the view, the gold light, the blue, and the green.”

With that in mind, I’ve curated everything in the home, right down to the toothbrush.”
Burgevin Blachman went on to explain: “When I come to a project, if I’ve never done something like that before, it’s a challenge—and that’s when I can get really creative. But I just started by saying, ‘How can I make it home?”
