There haven’t been any condo buildings built in Historic Cloverdale Village since 2016. Welcome to Tangerine Developments' newest project, Chronicle.
This isn’t just any condo building, Chronicle is steeped in history, boasting modern farmhouse architecture that harkens back to simpler times. Rooted in homesteading, Chronicle seamlessly blends traditional with classic, while celebrating its rural Cloverdale roots while embracing its emerging urban ones.
Conceived by Barnett Dembek Architects, Chronicle is a five-storey Craftsman-style building featuring an exclusive collection of 48 heritage-style one to three-bedroom condos, ranging from 499 to 1,000 square feet.
Tangerine has managed to capture a little slice of history by repurposing the Main family’s 1924 dairy farm into a beautiful amenities space for residents. Inside this heritage building, homeowners will have exclusive use to workstations, as well as a kitchenette and lounge with a gathering room for larger parties. Outside is a lovely patio and entertaining space to meet up with neighbours and friends or in the children’s play area.
“In today’s development world, where old structures are quickly being replaced by new fancy buildings, we were excited with the opportunity to retain the Main family home and incorporate it into our new building,” says Aman Dhillon – partner at Tangerine Developments. “Cloverdale was the City of Surrey’s first town centre so having a heritage component in our development was important in keeping up with what Cloverdale's identity is. It was the heart of the municipality’s education and administration services.”
Inspired by the rich history of the Main homestead, these homes come equipped with modern elements, like a Samsung Energy Star rated stainless steel appliance package, including a French door refrigerator, Quartz countertops, large undermount single bowl stainless kitchen sink and a classic glass pendant lighting over the kitchen island.
Designed for all stages in life by Creatives Spaces, you can choose between two curated colour schemes - Farmhouse (grey shaker) and Pacific (blue island).
Chronicle's design takes the comfortable, relaxed farmhouse style and adds modern touches such as smooth lines, glossy accents and nine-foot ceilings. It's less rustic, more sophisticated and uses of contemporary design elements also include granite countertops and sleek lighting.
Cloverdale’s history is deeply rooted in agriculture. Although it still retains its small-town charm, this community is one of the fastest-growing neighbourhoods in the province.
Cloverdale will be home to the NEW Surrey Hospital and integrated BC Cancer Centre, which is expected to perform 100,000 treatments per year. In addition, construction has already begun, with the hospital targeted to open in 2030. Construction is also underway on the Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex, set to open late fall of this year.
Today, Cloverdale is renowned as the heritage heart of Surrey, housing many historic sites, such as the municipal hall (circa 1912), the Museum of Surrey, Surrey Archives, the BC Vintage Truck Museum, the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway, and much more.
Chronicle is close to all of the amenities urbanites want, including the Cloverdale Recreation Centre, Cloverdale Arena, Bear Creek Outdoor Pool, and is home to the annual world-renowned Cloverdale Rodeo. Not only that, Cloverdale is home to great hidden gems, including independent boutiques, shops and restaurants. Chronicle truly embodies the best of rural with the modern amenities discerning people want.
Since 2009, Tangerine Developments has been shaping communities across Metro Vancouver with successful projects, such as Flora & Fauna, Yale Gardens, and The Guildford. At Chronicle, they have taken on a unique challenge of repurposing the 1942 heritage building into a community amenity space, preserving local history while adding modern value.
