Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson lists home for $223,000 more than he bought it for two years ago

Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson is listing for $1,798,000 the oceanview Kitsilano duplex he and his wife bought before they split. The price is $223,000 more than they paid for it two years ago.

The property is listed by agent David Tung.

The property, at 1645 Stephens Street, is near the Point Grey cycle path that the mayor recused himself from voting on, out of an “abundance of caution” against any conflict of interest because of his home’s location.

The property is a three-bedroom-plus-den, four-bathroom duplex totalling 1,666 square feet, on a 3,500 square-foot lot, less than a block from the beach. The listing and photos (see photo gallery, above) speak to the stunning ocean and mountain views from the interior and the three “entertainment-sized” outdoor spaces, including a view deck and a tree-shaded patio with hot tub.

The listing says, “Premium finishes include heated floors, limestone clad bathrooms, steam shower, eco wide-plank Alder floors, Euro stainless steel appliances, spectacular roof deck. Private backyard retreat with spa tub to unwind.”

It adds that there was a “to-the-studs designer reno” in 2007, plus a complete rainscreen and new roof last year.

The property will be shown at two open houses this weekend, Saturday May 9 and Sunday May 10, both days from 2pm to 4pm.
