A slideshow by Coquitlam's Mayor Richard Stewart shows how Coquitlam is morphing for suburb to city.

Coquitlam is growing fast -- faster than most of the rest of Metro Vancouver. The city has an open-for-business attitude, undeveloped room to grow into, and affordable housing.

Coquitlam also has access advantages. Physically, it's linked to the rest of Metro Vancouver with no bridges or tunnels causing bottlenecks. And pretty soon the Evergreen Line will sweeten the pot with rapid transit that links Coquitlam City Centre to Port Moody and Burnaby.

Virtually, Coquitlam has built a fibre-optic network that provides city-wide connectivity at bargain prices.

It's a city well prepared for a future that's projected to include 200,000 more citizens.

At a presentation to the Urban Development Institute, Coquitlam's Mayor Richard Stewart spoke about how the city is changing. For a quick wrap-up of Coquitlam's progress, click here to view his slideshow.
