Want to know what the value of your home is? In British Columbia, homeowners can go to the BC Assessment web page and get the latest assessed value of any residential address in the province, free.
The site also contains a map of B.C. that shows how property values have changed over the past year. For example, assessment values are up about 25 per cent in Vancouver, 20 per cent in Victoria and 27 per cent in Kelowna, as of last July.
BC Assessment's database also contains non-confidential assessment information for all property in British Columbia. The database records combine the most current ownership information with the most recently published assessment information. Land Title Survey Plan images are also available through BC OnLine with more than 400,000 survey plans available via the Internet.
Anyone who subscribes to BC OnLine can access the BC Assessment database. The amount of detail required (i.e. which level of reports users choose) will determine the cost of the search. For example, you can find out the five most recent sales in a neighbourhood and actual sales values of a property for the past two years.
To obtain your registration package, call BC OnLine at 1-800-663-6102, or visit bconline.gov.bc.ca.
