1912 home built for one of BC’s early-20th-century forestry leaders is priciest new listing of last week
A historic house in First Shaughnessy has been listed for $17.88 million, making it the highest-priced new Metro Vancouver listing of the week November 6-12, our weekly #REWCAP analysis has found.
Huntting House, on prestigious Angus Drive, was built around 1912 for William Foster Huntting, the wealthy president of Huntting-Merritt Lumber Company. It was designed by architect Cecil Croker Fox, a junior partner in Vancouver firm Maclure and Fox. According to local blog Vancouver Voyager, “This house is almost identical to the home ‘Orchard’ near London, England, which was English architect's CFA Voysey’s own house. The home has rough stucco and a massive steep roof and is a grand version of an English country cottage.”

The seven-bedroom, 10,000-square-foot-plus mansion was renovated on its centenary in 2012, including a modern kitchen with separate wok kitchen. There are also five ensuite bathrooms, in addition to two half-bathrooms, as well as new marble and hardwood flooring. The house stands on a huge 22,539-square-foot lot and has a gated circular driveway.
The region’s most expensive new condo listing to be marketed last week was a condo assignment in the as-yet-unfinished Evelyn building by Onni, on the slopes of North Vancouver above Park Royal. This luxury, 2,000-square-foot penthouse has a vast 1,660-square-foot outdoor terrace, as well as three bedrooms and a den, and high-end finishings and appliances. It was listed on November 6 for $4,675,900.
These listings were two of the 918 properties to come on the Greater Vancouver Multiple Listing Service® the week of November 6-12. The total number of active listings as of November 16 now stands at 8,498 homes – up just 56 units from the previous week.

It seems that higher-priced inventory may be moving a little faster, with the number of listing price drops falling below 400 for the first time in several weeks. That said, the median days on market for a detached home in the region crept up by two days since the previous week, to 59.
The median listing price of a single-family house also rose, by $5,860 over the week before, this week at $2,155,860. But townhouses remained the same at $988,800, and condo median listing prices lost the $900 they gained the previous week, now back at $699K.
