The dynamic 43-storey skyscraper design for a site at 1500 West Georgia Street in downtown Vancouver is open for examination and feedback this evening, Thursday February 4, at an open house hosted by developers Bosa Properties and Kingswood Properties.
The developers are seeking input ahead of applying for rezoning of the site to accommodate the mixed-use building, which it is optimistic it will achieve under the increased density set out in the West End Community Plan.
Bosa's open house invitation (above, in image carousel) points out that the event is not in lieu of a City-held public consultation process, which would be held following the rezoning appllication, including another open house.
Tonight's drop-in open house will be held at the Empire Landmark Hotel, at 1400 Robson Street (Pavilion 1), between 5pm and 7.30pm.
German architect Ole Scheeren's design has been reduced to 43 storeys, from its original conception as a 50-storey tower on the site next to the iconic green-glass building at 1500 West Georgia Street.
Bosa senior vice-president Daryl Simpson told REW.ca’s sister publication Business in Vancouver that the project was reduced to 43 storeys because City of Vancouver planners had rejected the original proposal in September, believing that it would "puncture view cones."
