To those celebrities who claim they are quitting their Stateside homes if The Donald is elected – we have the perfect Canadian home for you

Left, right and centre, it seems like celebrities are swearing they will leave the US if Donald Trump is elected President. With Lena Duhnam, Miley Cyrus and Jon Stewart all threatening to hightail it out of States (or the planet altogether, in Jon Stewart’s case) if Trump makes it all the way, we thought we would give these celebs a hand by helping them find their perfect new home in Hollywood North. With an easy commute to LA and The Donald nowhere in sight, relocating to Greater Vancouver is something we think is one smart move.

The Lower Mainland homes below are all currently listed for sale on REW.ca – click through the links for even more photos and the full listing. As the properties are sold, the listings may become unavailable.

Lena Dunham, comic writer and actress

Current home: US$4.9 million Brooklyn condo

Lena Dunham, one celeb who actually singled out Vancouver as the Canadian city she would relocate to if Trump was elected, recently purchased a four-bedroom apartment in a boutique Brooklyn building for US$4.9 ($6.4 million). The brand-new five-condo building is located in the regal Brooklyn Heights neighbourhood and is 3,200 square feet of luxury, with a direct-entry elevator, gourmet kitchen, 42-foot-plus long open-concept living and dining room (complete with fireplace) and a covered terrace. The unit also comes with a deeded spot in the parking garage.

We think this spectacular $6 million Canadian, four-bedroom, Coal Harbour penthouse is a perfect fit for the writer and Girls star. This amazing home features 360-degree panoramic views, indoor and outdoor spaces each measuring over 3,000 square feet respectively and a private rooftop heated pool. This glamorous condo is steps to the shops and restaurants of Robson Street, the seawall and marina. With complete privacy – there are no close buildings this high up – and an additional office/bedroom for the best-selling author to get to work, this is the perfect pad to escape the politics south of the border while enjoying the best of Vancouver in total luxury.

Miley Cyrus Malibu

Miley Cyrus, who famously posted a photo of herself crying on Instagram over Trump’s political success, has recently purchased US$2.5 million ($3.3 Canadian) four-bedroom house in Malibu. The famed singer’s new digs are a two-storey, 1,384-square-foot mid-century house situated on two acres. The property is private and green – and just down the street from fiancé Liam Hemsworth.

While we can’t compete with the proximity to her beau, we think this 1939 West Side home, listed at $3.6 million Canadian, is just her speed. The renovated five-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom house has high-end touches throughout, and includes a three-car garage. Stunning French doors open to a sun-drenched terrace, private garden and fenced yard, perfect for when she’s no longer feeling the “Party in the U.S.A.”

Jon Stewart has threatened to leave not only the US but the planet altogether if Trump makes it all the way to the White House. What he and his wife Tracey would be leaving behind would be his side-by-side farm properties on the Navesink River in New Jersey, purchased in 2009 and 2010 for about US$7 million ($9.2 Canadian).

Proposed new home: $9 million Abbotsford estate

We don’t think it’s necessary to leave Earth to escape US politics, and from this fabulous $9 million Abbotsford country estate – formerly owned by Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger and set on staggering 18.5 acres of land – you wouldn’t want to. Featuring 15,000 square feet of living space, both indoor and outdoor pools and a hockey rink you may never leave the property at all. Animal lovers the Stewarts, who made headlines when they adopted an abused horse from the SPCA and are opening an animal sanctuary, would especially love the deluxe barn with four large birthing stalls, riding ring, paddock and huge studio above.
