Vancouver: No Fixed Address explores the city's housing issues from diverse perspectives
Typically dealing with subject matter outside of his hometown, Vancouver-based filmmaker Charles Wilkinson has turned his camera's gaze inwards in his latest documentary, Vancouver: No Fixed Address. The film explores the impact of Vancouver's seemingly unstoppable housing affordability crisis, one of the biggest and most pervasive issues plaguing the city in recent years.
Drawing on the perspectives of several city figureheads, including environmentalist David Suzuki, Mayor Gregor Robinson and real estate marketer Bob Rennie, Vancouver: No Fixed Address also gives a voice to several communities often overlooked in the housing crisis conversation, including First Nations, Chinese immigrants, and the city's homeless and millennial population. Wilkinson hopes his film will spark meaningful conversations and educate viewers on the issue.
Vancouver: No Fixed Address premiered at Toronto's HotDocs festival on May 2nd and will begin a two-week run at Vancouver's Vancity theatre beginning May 19th.
