“I’m happy that Southlands has grown into a community that is providing a lifestyle based on a sense of place,” says Sean Hodgins, President, Century Group. “We purposefully built homes with front porches to encourage interaction. Multiple award-winning Southlands is so much more than its homes - estate cottages, townhomes, cottages framing common courtyards, and country flats - it’s a place that offers hometown values, fresh-grown vegetables, and a range of community events throughout the year.

Christine Grange is the Destination Manager at the Southlands Grange. Grange is responsible for planning events, like gardening workshops, wellness programs, the Red Barn Music Series, Pancakes with Santa, the Four Winds 5km run, and many more.

“The Southlands Farmer’s Market launched its fifth season on May 24th,” says Grange. “Every other week, between 30 to 40 independent vendors, selling everything from produce, Southlands organic honey, to artisanal food specialties, bouquets of flowers and more, take part. The market also features live music, children’s activities and food trucks.”

That’s not all. Southlands’ community gardens have become its own neighbourhood hub.

“Our investment in creating a public realm has been a really big part of what Southlands is about,” says Hodgins. “The communal garden plots have been much more popular than I thought they would be. I’m happy it’s paying off in more ways than cultivating food.”

When it comes to home offerings, there is so much going on in the Southlands community. Right now, its newest release of freehold single family homes, Harrow Estate Cottages, are selling extremely well.

The 42 four-bedroom, 2,200+ square-foot harvest-inspired coloured classic farmhouse-style cottages feature generous covered front porches, tranquil backyard patios, primary bedroom on the main (some homes), and two-car detached or attached garages.

“When we released the first 11 presale Harrow Estate Cottages, they were so well received that we sold all of them except one. We are seeing some upsizing buyers who already live in Southlands. They have told us that they just love living here, but wanted more space,” says Natalie Shaw, Senior Sales Manager, Century Group, adding she wants prospective buyers to know that all the single family homes in Southlands are freehold. “With the May 3rd release of another 12 cottages, we have already sold seven.” (Prices for these cottages start from $1.74m).

Meanwhile, over at Centennial Green townhomes, Century Group recently opened its new 1,800 square foot, three-bedroom and den show home.

Centennial Green is a collection of 16 three-bedroom and den townhomes, ranging from 1,622 to 1,802 square feet. Boasting timeless Craftsman-style architecture with pitched gable roofs, large picture windows and white cedar picket fence porches, each home perfectly blends the best of traditional comfort and modern flair. There is still a great selection of move-in-ready Centennial Green townhomes, starting from $1.19m.

“What’s really unique about these townhomes is that the third level is its own primary bedroom and five-piece ensuite oasis with a window seating bench (some homes), boasting views of Boundary Bay,” says Shaw.

The Southlands Farmers’ Market runs every second Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. from May 24th until November 8th.
