Caulfeild bears the name of Francis Caulfeild, an English emigrant who purchased land on Point Atkinson near what is now Lighthouse Park at the beginning of the 20th century. The area's earliest landowner and first developer, Caulfeild laid a foundation built upon by successive generations.
Caulfeild now has approximately 6,195 residents, primarily married couples with children but with an almost equal number of couples without children. Wealthy and family-friendly, the neighbourhood is a comfortable community.
Waterside mansions on narrow, rustic streets contrast with newer homes farther up the mountain slope in Upper Caulfeild. Caulfeild average house prices are $1.4 million, although the least expensive house sale price over the past year was $842,000. View Caulfeild MLS® listings
While the best-known landmark is Lighthouse Park, where there are some trees estimated at 500 years old, the largely residential community also offers shopping at Caulfeild Village Shopping Centre.
Recreational amenities include Caulfeild Park by the water and the many green areas that dot the slopes of Cypress Mountain and, of course, the ski slopes of Cypress Bowl at the mountain's summit.
