Many of Capitol Hill's popular dining establishments are concentrated along Hastings Drive. There are a number of cafes and Italian restaurants that are popular with the locals and are also destination restaurants for residents of surrounding suburbs like Burnaby Heights, Brentwood Park, Burnaby Mountain and Cascade Heights. There are a range of restaurants featuring Greek, Chinese, Caribbean and Japanese cuisine.

Capitol Hill is home to Confederation Park, which has something for everyone from its lawn bowling green to its tennis courts. There are also soccer fields, a lacrosse box, a skateboard park and a model steam railway that runs every weekend in the summer. Nearby facilities for swimming and fitness include the Eileen Dailly Leisure Pool and Fitness Centre and the Confederation Community Centre and the McGill branch of the Burnaby Public Library. There is also a Confederation Park Off-Leash Trail for dogs off of Penzance Drive.

The area is well served by transit bus links along Hastings Street to Simon Fraser University, Downtown Vancouver and to Metrotown and SkyTrain stations in Burnaby.
