Capilano is a small enclave on the western side of the City of North Vancouver. Capilano real estate is mainly made up of older homes that have been renovated and upgraded, but much of the home stock is comprised of 1,200-square-foot ranchers.

Capilano is a small enclave on the western side of the City of North Vancouver. The community was designed after World War II, originally meant as a place for returning solders to settle and raise their families in starter homes.

In recent decades, Capilano real estate has seen numerous upgrades. Many older homes have been renovated and upgraded, but much of the home stock is comprised of 1,200-square-foot rancher-style homes.

A few condominiums have been built in the community, including Capilano Estates, a luxury condo development.

Norgate Elementary is located within the Capilano community and there are several schools in nearby areas, such as in Capilano Highlands and Pemberton Heights. Capilano also offers numerous outdoor attractions, including the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park.

Capilano Shopping

Capilano Mal l is the area's largest mall. It offers men's and women's fashion stores as well as Walmart, jewellry stores, coffee shops and music stores. One of Greater Vancouver's largest shopping centres, Park Royal Shopping Centre, is located in adjacent West Vancouver and other shopping can be found at Westview Shopping Centre and Edgemont Village.

Capilano Sports and Recreation

The Capilano area offers numerous activities, especially for outdoor enthusiasts. The Capilano RV Park offers RV sites for camping and the Capilano Suspension Bridge and Park is one of Vancouver's top attractions. Walk the bridge, take on a Treetop Adventure, visit the Story Centre and stop by Totem Park. Capilano also has Murdo Frazer Park, a great community green space just north of the Upper Level Highway. The park offers walking and hiking trails, picnic tables, a playground, and several tennis courts.

Capilano Transportation

Buses run along Marine Drive and provide access to Downtown Vancouver via the Seabus link, located at south end of Lonsdale Avenue. The Seabus runs every 15 minutes during its regular schedule. Capilano also has quick access to the Lions Gate Bridge, which is an easy route to Downtown Vancouver. The area's southern border is the Upper Level Highway (Trans-Canada Highway 1), which offers access to adjacent communities and the rest of North Vancouver.
