Buying or selling on the Sunshine Coast comes with questions a listing won't answer: what the market is really doing, what the property needs, and what you'd be trading off.
I'm Tara Sullivan, a REALTOR® with RE/MAX City Realty since 2017. I've lived on the Coast for about 30 years, from Gibsons and Roberts Creek to Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay and Pender Harbour.
For buyers, that means looking past the listing photos: the well and septic, legal use, the strata documents, the ferry in an ordinary week, and what you'll have left after you buy.
For sellers, it means pricing for leverage, not optimism, and preparing the home so it's strong in the first two weeks, when it matters most.
I'll tell you what I think, plainly. You make the decision. Then I negotiate hard to get you there.
Read the market. Weigh the options. Your call.

Short-term rental strata bylaws are allowed and a strata corporation or section may have, or create, a bylaw banning or limiting short-term rentals."
What does this mean for strata owners? Could it increase your property value? Will this open up a new market to investors? Will some developments become less desirable than others because of the change? Will some strata locations decrease in value? Will this make housing more affordable? Will it increase the gap between owners and renters? What will be the long-term effect of this decision?
The government made this in the hope that it would open up some of the vacant units for rentals. However, did the government consider the opinion of the current owners?
