I have spoken with Darrin and my understanding is that your parents were aware that they were not being represented by Darrin in their purchase. In this specific situation, there are special forms required explaining what it means to be unrepresented in a sale, which Darrin gave to them and explained to them. I have a copy of these disclosure forms with your parent’s signature on them, so I am confident your parents understood that they were not working with Darrin as their agent, but that Darrin was the seller’s agent. In this situation - by law, Darrin could not advise your parents on the process, only provide to them information about the home. Negotiations regarding the sale of furniture can be difficult and is something I advise my agents not to get involved with. Regardless, I am sorry that the furniture buying process did not turn out as you expected. I understand that Darrin made a huge effort to make sure your new home was ready for you to take possession in a timely manner and personally paid a large amount for professional cleaning after the seller moved out and before you moved in. I hope you will please take the time to reconsider your review. I discussed this sale with Darrin and I am confident he did everything correctly and dealt with your parents in a professional manner as he has done with many clients over the past 15 years of his real estate career. It was not made distinctly clear that we were not represented in a recent Davis Bay home purchase transaction for my family. My father was never told explicitly, in person by Darrin that he couldn't represent both the buyer and the seller. As a result, after we made an offer and it was accepted by the seller, we were left to our own devices and completely unrepresented in our home purchase. Darrin ultimately received double commissions on a home without barely lifting a finger to help. Even when asked to minimally assist with purchasing the seller's furniture, he replied to both parties , "I'm not in the furniture selling business..." He missed important details in the contract that ultimately caused stress and loss of income for us throughout the process. I found his behavior to be unprofessional, borderline unethical, condescending, and even so far as sexist in my dealings with him. There are so many realtors out there who would go beyond the call of duty to help you have an excellent home buying experience. He tarnished what should have ultimately been one of the happiest purchases of our lives and turned it into stress and chaos.
