Janai York, publisher of Glacier Media Group’s real estate titles including Real Estate Weekly and new magazine West Coast Condominium, has joined the board of the Greater Vancouver Home Builders’ Association (GVHBA), the association announced this week.
Bob de Wit, CEO of the GVHBA, said, “We are very fortunate to have added Janai to our GVHBA board. Janai is a communicator and a strategic thinker and we expect her contribution to enhance our role as the voice of residential homebuilders and homeowners in Metro Vancouver. GVHBA members set the industry standard for quality and innovation, and it’s very important to our association to communicate that to the homeowners of Metro Vancouver. We believe Janai will help us achieve that goal."
York has more than 16 years of experience in real estate media, including three years at the helm of Real Estate Weekly.
She said, “I’m honoured to be elected to the board of BC’s largest homebuilders association. The GVHBA is dedicated to providing consumers a credible and trusted resource for their homebuilding and renovating needs, with over 860 members all located within the Lower Mainland. I believe their strategic goals of continuously providing knowledge to their members and becoming the trusted voice of the industry will result in consumers receiving best-practice and top-quality construction.
“My goal is to work with the GVHBA to increase awareness of the GVHBA brand and its value to both consumers and the industry.”
The GVHBA also announced than members had elected Dan Glavind as their 2015/2016 chair at the GVHBA's Annual Election Meeting in Burnaby October 7.
Having spent the past three decades working in the building products industry, Glavind is the first Dick’s Lumber employee to hold the position of GVHBA chair, throughout the 41-year GVHBA membership. Glavind succeeds outgoing Chair, Ron Rapp of Morningstar Homes, Coquitlam.
A not-for-profit society, the GVHBA is Canada’s second-largest, fastest-growing home builder association, comprised of more than 860 companies representing developers, builders, renovators, sub-trades, suppliers, manufacturers and other professionals in the residential construction industry. It is affiliated with the provincial and national Canadian Home Builders' Associations.
