Jonny Rees and his fiancée Melissa Grosart, both 33, wanted to lay down roots. Like many young couples, they were priced out of the expensive Lower Mainland real estate.
“Melissa owned a condo in Abbotsford, and I was living in North Vancouver, but we both knew we wanted a yard for our dog and a spacious home,” says Rees. “We were looking in Abbotsford, but we couldn’t find anything we liked in our price range.”
Since Melissa had grown up in Chilliwack, they decided to check it out. After looking at several homes that required renovations, they agreed they wanted a new build. Nothing caught their eye until they discovered Cedarbrook.
Cedarbrook captured the hearts of the young couple.
“We purchased a 2,800 square foot, three-bedroom lane home with a carriage house, which we rent out as a mortgage helper,” says Rees, saying every day he walks outside his door and takes the dog along the walking trails. “We absolutely love everything about our new home and community … it’s beautifully finished and Melissa loves to bake, so she especially loves the pantry.”
Their biggest decisions now are “which lake do we kayak today or what mountain do we hike?”
What’s not to love? Once completed, Cedarbrook master-planned community will boast more than 10 acres of dedicated park space with a fenced dog park, a large open green space and children’s playground, four kilometres of interlocking trails, a bustling village, amenities and a business centre.
After a successful launch last year, in which Phase 1 and 2 of Cedarbrook sold out, Westbow Group of Companies launches a new release of rowhomes, consisting of a boutique collection of 22, three-storey row homes in six buildings.
“The main focus for the different homes along the street is focused on a timeless more traditional style with a contemporary spin,” says Brendan Robinson, Lead Designer, Westbow Group of Companies. “My main inspiration and focus is to create something that looks new - but wants to age well - we want our homes to look good now and look good in the future - not chasing a fad or a trend but create more timeless architecture.”
Inspired by its stunning location, the three-bedroom and den row homes are anchored by quality laminate v-groove flooring throughout the main floor, an electric fireplace with floating designer shelves, and a spa-inspired ensuite off the master and soaring ceilings on the main.
For the culinary master in your home, the modern chef-inspired kitchens do not disappoint – each showcases a large working island with an overhanging counter for seating, generous pantry, Shaker-style cabinetry, and stainless steel appliance package with gas stove, subway tile backsplash and polished quartz countertops.
With its enviable, picturesque geographical location and small-town feel, Chilliwack has a lot to offer new residents planning to move there. Cedarbrook is well situated with quick access to Mother Nature’s best – close to the Fraser River, Chilliwack Mountain and Vedder River; trails at Mount Cheam and Lindeman Lake; and Cultus Lake’s beaches, water slides, and attractions.
For more than four decades, family-owned Westbow has quickly become one of Chilliwack’s foremost developers, with a reputation for delivering quality, timeless home design with many modern features.
