Maple Ridge Neighbourhood Information





The District of Maple Ridge is located on the north shore of the Fraser River, approximately 45 kilometres east of the City of Vancouver. Maple Ridge is also east of neighbouring Pitt Meadows and west of Hayward Lake and boasts breathtaking views of the Coast Mountains. The local economy used to rely on rural farming, logging and milling but is now a growing residential small-town community with close proximity to neighbourhood parks and large municipal parks, like Golden Ears Regional Park and Kanaka Creek Regional Park.

There is a vast network of trails in Maple Ridge for cyclists, campers, hikers and walkers, including parts of the TransCanada Trail. Maple Ridge Town Centre, formerly called Haney, has just been transformed with new office spaces, civic and provincial government offices, a recreation centre and a performing arts centre with gallery.

A constantly growing community, Maple Ridge’s population is projected to increase at an annual rate of 1.6% through 2021, with a significantly higher proportion of children than the rest of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. The new Golden Ears Bridge opened in June 2009 and provides a quick link from Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge to Langley, Surrey and other municipalities.

Valley Fair Mall has a London Drugs and a Save-On-Foods as well as a major financial institution and a BC Liquor Store with other shops and services. Meadowtown Centre in nearby Pitt Meadows has a Winners, Real Canadian Superstore, Winners and a Cineplex Odeon.

Maple Ridge has many parklands and recreational attractions like Golden Ears Provincial Park (one of the largest camping areas in British Columbia), with recreational activities concentrated around Alouette Lake, which has waterfalls, a picnic area and hiking trails. Other parks in the Maple Ridge area include Rolley Lake Provincial Park and Kanaka Creek Provincial Park with 12 kilometres of creek, canyons and marshes. Maple Ridge Park offers trails for horseback riding and also offers various riding schools located outside the border of the park.

Maple Ridge Transportation

There are public transit services provided by Translink, including buses and the West Coast Express trains which provide links from Maple Ridge to downtown Vancouver. The main bus exchange in Maple Ridge is Haney Place Exchange. Maple Ridge is also connected via Highway 7 to Pitt Meadows in the east and Mission in the west.
