Mackenzie Heights is a small tree-lined neighbourhood on the City of Vancouver’s west side. Canadian Pacific Railway originally owned the land, but eventually the head of the railway decided to give the parcel of land to his son-in-law, Jack Wood.
Wood developed several Mackenzie Heights homes inspired by California’s mission-style houses. After he offered one of his Mackenzie Heights houses — which looked like tiny castles — to a local teacher for a year for free, the area became known as “the neighbourhood where teachers live.”
Mackenzie Heights’ real estate is sought after, especially by builders, affluent professionals and offshore investors. Most of the houses in Mackenzie Heights are stately, single-family homes situated on generous lots. The average price for a house in Mackenzie Heights exceeds $1.5 million. Townhouses command close to $1 million and apartments around $500,000. View Mackenzie Heights MLS listings®
