Richmond’s Cascade City set to redefine West Coast Modernism with dripping terraces and light-flooded homes

Imagine for a moment, sweeping views of the river and miles of dyke paths to walk or cycle along, anchored by new parks and a bustling city with an eclectic mix of shopping and dining. Welcome to Richmond’s Oval Village masterplanned community, where Landa Global Properties will soon unveil its newest project: Cascade City.

Designed by renowned firms Arno Matis Architecture and Rafii Architects, the twin 15-storey towers, which will feature street-level retail space and 271 luxurious residences, are set to become landmarks in Richmond for their unique design.

“The smooth forms, horizontality and the layering connects with the river landscape,” explains Arno Matis, principal, Arno Matis Architecture. “We looked into the past to rediscover what West Coast Modernism was… Then, using new technology, we created modernistic architecture not found in Richmond or Vancouver, which I think will [showcase] really iconic pieces of design.”

“The results,” adds Foad Rafii, principal at Rafii Architects, “are forward-thinking expressions of form. The inspiration gleaned from the development’s riverfront location gave form to stunning design that goes beyond the exterior façade.”

“Arno is very innovative and this project will stand out because Richmond doesn’t have anything like this,” Rafii notes.

The two towers cascade down to a private fifth-level communal podium, where residents and guests can enjoy the fully landscaped gardens or gather and relax around the outdoor seating areas.

“The resort-style amenities will consist of a large, double-height, state-of-the-art fitness centre featuring Technogym equipment, recreation space with Mahjong room, ping pong table and billiard table, a fully decorated lounge, dining room, guest suites, theatre and karaoke room, and more,” says Kevin Cheung, CEO, Landa Global Properties.

Cascade City also exemplifies the architecture with the floor-to-ceiling glazing and generous terraces and balconies where residents can entertain in lavish style on balmy summer evenings or cool fall days. “The big focus at Cascade City is to maximize natural light, while offering lots of access to the outdoors,” says Cheung. Add that to sophisticated residences, built to the highest quality, with the tranquility of a waterfront location, and Cascade City will surely sell out fast.

The Oval Village is a walkable work/live/play community on the leading edge of sustainable living. This exclusive enclave consists primarily of upscale residences with beautiful waterfront views and state-of-the-art, well-appointed amenities.

A short drive from Vancouver, the Oval Village masterplanned community shares its postal code with the award-winning Richmond Oval and UBC Boathouse.

For the outdoor and sports enthusiast there are four parks nearby – Minoru, Lang, Brighouse and Garden City, Minoru Aquatic Centre and Richmond Ice Centre.

Considering the unprecedented luxury, refined spaces and modern amenities, Cascade City is more than just a home – it’s a lifestyle choice.Cascade City’s presentation centre and display home, located at 7100 Elmbridge Way, is coming soon. Pre-sales begin late fall.
