Renfrew is a Vancouver neighbourhood that is on the brink of major change. Encompassing a large swath of East Van, the area is bordered by Hastings Street, Boundary Road, Grandview Highway and Nanaimo Street. Though we found 92 detached houses in the area listed, the top-priced homes – almost three dozen listed between $2.5 and 3.5 million – are all land assemblies along either Renfrew Street or Broadway. With just two condos and one townhome currently listed in Renfrew, the densification that will likely arise from these sales will do much to bolster the options for smaller homes in the area.

The priciest home in the area not targeted solely at investors or developers is a spacious five-bedroom on East 6th Avenue listed at a hair below $2.5 million. The least-costly detached house, by contrast, is a starter home on Napier listed under $1.1 million. Condos in Renfrew ranged from an affordable $299,000 to just $20,000 over that price. And the sole townhome currently on the market is a three-bedroom home for under $710,000.
