Curated Debate: South Surrey Super Casino Roulette

November 26, 2012  |  By

Casinos are often a source of heated debate: seen by some as a societal scourge, by others a an adult playland.

At a meeting on Wednesday night, hosted by the Surrey Ratepayer's Association at the Pacific Inn hotel in South Surrey, residents aired their concerns while Jim Lightbody, of the BCLC, and Gateway Casinos' James Chen presented their case.

Our sister paper, The Surrey Now, reported on the community meeting and the paper's editor, Beau Simpson, expressed in a column that he believes the fears are unfounded.

Below is a collection of views from Twitter. We'd like to know what you think. Will this have a negative impact on Surrey, increasing crime and reducing property values? Or will it be beneficial in bringing more people to the city and act as a boon to the property market?
